Member Profile- Meet Doreen Lawrence
Doreen Lawrence is a passionate landscape and wildlife photographer whose artistic journey began in childhood with a Kodak Instamatic and her father’s lessons on light and shadow, though she only seriously pursued the craft after retiring ten years ago. Viewing photography as a "journey of discovery," she seeks to capture the emotional connection between light, land, and life rather than just documenting scenes, often balancing rigorous preparation with the patience to embrace nature's unpredictability. Her work, which aims to honor reality through subtle post-processing, has earned her significant recognition, including the 2019 ANMPAS Judges Choice Award and the 2024 Nevada Camera Club Photographer of the Year title. A member of the Enchanted Lens Camera Club (ELCC), she credits the mentorship of fellow member LeRoy Perea for helping refine her vision and advises aspiring photographers to "shoot for you" and view failures as valuable learning opportunities.
